The Miners Welfare Site is currently under review,
After a turbulent past, the Social club was closed in Dec 2016. The building was broken into and vandalised, causing significant damage.
The council took the decision that the cost of repairs far outweighed their budget, but also only sitcky plastered the problems, therefore the decision was taken to look into redeveloping into a purpose built facility.
In April 2019 a consultant was contracted to carry out a feasibility study into the whole site, its current users and the village needs to provide the council with a report to be bale to move the project forwards. Unfortunately in Nov 2019 he resigned from the project,
The council are now instructing another team to progress the project,
In Nov 2020, The council instructed the servies of an architect who has been working to carry out surveys and drawings for a purpose built community facility.
In Feb 2021, The council received a furst draft drawing and are currently awaiting survey results before completion of further drawings.
Once a design has been drafted, Plans will be drawn up, costed and submitted for planning permission.
The council have been saving towards this project and will use their 'deposit' to seek match funding and secure grants.
